She was the beloved wife of the late Herman Castler Helmer Sr.; mother of Floyd Breaux (Gail), Terry Cavalier (Cheryl), Phyllis Dominique (Nick), Diana Trafficano (the late Allen), Gene Cavalier, Jennifer Cavalier (Tommy), Mary Irvin (Donald), Lisa Helmer, Eilene Necaise (James), Loretta Johnson (Eric), Darrin Helmer Sr. (Tracy), Michael Helmer Sr. (Windy), Elsie Walls (Fant), and the late Debra Cavalier; Step mother of Herman Helmer Jr. (Rebecca), Diana Matherne (James), Katherine Ekinia (Louis) and the late Janette Helmer; daughter of the late Skiro Perez and Gertie Brunet Perez; and sister of Arthur Perez (Dorie), Cheryl Dempster (Jerry), and Judy Scioneaux (Donald) as well as the late Leo Perez,Tilden Perez, Jerry

Perez, Dave Perez, Elsie Perez, and Elda Matherne. She was also the grandmother of 30, step-grandmother of 7, great grandmother of 42, step-great grandmother of 16, great great grandmother of 10, and step-great great grandmother of 7.

She loved her quality time at home crocheting and spending time with family. She also loved her trips to the casino. She is remembered as an amazing cook and housewife. She was loved by many. Her favorite pastime was to sing and dance.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM.
