Gladys Inez Washington entered her eternal reward on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of the late Archie Washington Sr. She was the mother of Matricia Pazon(Allen), Gloria Washington, Denise Washington, Archetta Washington, and Archie Washington Jr. (Kateri), as well as the late Sonja Argue. Daughter of the late Walter and Orlean Dillon, and sister of Clementine McElveen, Elizabeth Peters, Emma Johnson, Glendora Montague, and Ora Patterson, as well as the late Austin Dillon Sr., Archie Dillon, George Dillon, and Rosie Thomas. Beloved grandmother of Carl Davis III, Gary Pazon, Dazerra Esteves, Jessica Argue, Ceairra Washington, Malik Argue, Jayla Washington, and JaMia Washington. In addition, she was the great grandmother of Allix, Cobe. Asher, Ezra and Malik Jr. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was the co-owner of Dot and Gladys' Restaurant, retired as Chef of Lakewood Country Club, and periodically assisted at Saffron Caterers until becoming ill. She was a longtime member of Avondale Church of God in Christ and had a strong faith. Her family and friends remember well her great cooking, and her gentle spirit. Many people felt so close to her that they called her “Mom.”
A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. In addition, a service will be held at Burton Temple Church of God in Christ, 3039 Magnolia-Holmesville Rd, Magnolia, MS 39652 on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Pastor Austin Dillon, Jr will officiate. Interment will be in Burton Temple Cemetery in Magnolia on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
