I have known Gilberto for only the few years in which he has worked for me at River Oaks Hospital.  I can truly say that to know Gilberto is to never forget him.  He was a highly skilled worker,  but was also a friend always interested in other people. He knew just about everyone at work.   He was generous even donating to other co workers who were ill.  He was a man of integrity who was well liked and trusted by all. 

What a worker he was! I would put a stack of requisitions in his wall pocket thinking that would get him through the day.  It wasn't long before he would come in my office and ask, "What  you got for me to do.?" Seemed like my job was keeping him busy all day.  I thought, I'll have to give him large projects to work on!  I was amazed at how quickly he would assemble everything he needed for a job and complete it. He seemed to have about every tool ever known to man and was very efficient and did high quality work. 

When Gilberto became ill I had the pleasure of meeting his lovely family. I consider them my friends and with them am saddened by this loss. 

You will be missed Gilberto but never forgotten. 

(Part 2)
Gil was a jack of all trades and a master of construction and a good testament of his craft is that in more than 30 years there is not a crack on my building.
Gil's friendship, his loyalty, his big heart and willingness to help made him someone you will never forget. Gil had a few weaknesses, he hated laziness, inactivity, indecision and was a very  early riser which always caused problems when we travelled together because as he said, "you sleep too much". 
When I say that Gil has influenced my life in critical times of my life I do not exaggerate. I would need to write a book to really give credence to a life of friendship.

As life would have it I again lost regular contact with their move to Louisiana, USA but his yearly visits and Sylvia's kindness kept us informed of each other until his death on 29th. December, 2018.
I remember with fondness the time we shared as family friends, with other Corozal friends like Bambi and Carmen, the multitude interactions with Gil's family,  but his dancing skills were amazing and will be unforgetful.

RIP Gil, a friend indeed. The good you did to me I try to do unto others in the work I do each day. God's Grace received and not given is not Grace.
All were blessed who knew Gil and those closer to him were touched in a special way by his smartness, intuition, creativity and constant effort to makes us less lazy, do better and be better. 
Our family joins me in saying that all our lives are better for having known Gil and loving him.
Our prayers and love is with Sylvia, Karina, Anel, Raul and Christopher, our godson, and with the entire family. Gil's calling was too soon but we celebrate the opportunity to have shared so much with him during his stay on this earth.

(Part 1 NOLO's MEMORY)
Gil and I grew up together and went to primary  school and almost all of Xavier College together.  I recall serving as a Lions member in Corozal as young adults and enjoying many outings and reunions  together. We lost touch when he moved to Belize City. 
One day on my way back to Corozal from a day trip to Orange Walk my car broke down and after waiting for a while I saw a little truck stop and Gil coming out. Gil quickly assessed the damage and quickly got his rope he had in his vehicle, and hooked me up ready to pull my damaged vehicle. This was about 18 miles to Corozal. Gil  instructed me to put vehicle in neutral and just follow him. Those who knew Gil know he was a fast driver and he drove off at high speed the entire journey on the rough road without stopping for nothing. I had not prayed so much as I did in that short time and had not been so afraid and grateful when he finally stopped me at a local mechanic shop. Gil was helpful, a good friend and a fearless man. A man of strong determination with a big heart always in his hands.
We reconnected when I transferred to Belize City where Gil lived. This was around 1987 to 1996, time period when both Sylvia and I worked for the USA Embassy in Belize.
Early on Gil was always insisting that I apply for a lot in  his neighbourhood. I did not like the swampy area that was available and continued to defer applying for it. One day he walks into my office with a map of West Landivar and an indication of two available lots and insists that we go to the lands department where a Corozal land officer was there and he would help me with process of application. So said so done and weeks after I was receiving my lease for the place  where I now live.
I remember the countless nights Gil and my wife spent designing the first phase of our existing house and the role he played in me selling my house in Corozal and use the proceeds to start construction in the City. (Part 2 below)

My dear friend, Sylvia, your children, grandchildren, and the extended Ramirez-Sanchez family,

My heartfelt sympathy to each, and all of you.  Your angel is in Heaven, in perfect health, loving and watching over you, “for He will give His Angles Charge over you, to keep you in all your ways”. (Psalm 91, Verse11)

Sylvia, I know of your abiding faith from when we were young ladies in Fletcher College, in our hometown, and I pray that your faith will continue to sustain you and the whole family as you mourn your loss. 

You and your family have been in my constant prayers and will continue to be throughout this journey, my friend. May you find comfort in your faith, love for each other, and the bond that binds you as a family.

This is Heart felt.  The Sanchez's home was my second home growing up.  Life paths separates us but the love I have for you all remains.  I love you guys, Karina, Anel, Raul and Mrs Sanchez.   I truly ache along with you all at this time.  Until we meet again.
