Gilbert J. Gaudet

Gilbert J. “10 Pound” Gaudet passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the age of 94. A native of Coverland Plantation in Cutoff, LA, He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Englade Gaudet for over 72 years. Son of the late Octave Gaudet and Larencia Danos Gaudet. Father of Beverly Lauland (Eric), Larry Gaudet (Barbara), and Sharon Sunday. Brother of Enola Bruce (the late Joseph), and Martha Kerley (the late Harry), as well as the late Alice Theriot (Joseph), Octavia “Tiger” Pitre (Richard), Camille Bush (Emile), and Armenia “Mina” Parker (Benny). He was a lifetime resident of Westwego. Grandfather of Melissa Berkesch, Lonnie Gaudet, and Julie Gaudet as well as the late Eric Lauland Jr. Great grandfather of Cyle Berkesch. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
