Gerald Lawrence Lynch passed away on April 18, 2024 at the age of 75. He was born in New Orleans Louisiana on February 26, 1949 to the late James Russell Lynch, Jr. and Erin Lawrence Lynch. Devoted husband of 54 years to Gertrude "Trudy" Guillory Lynch. Loving father of Stacie A. Lynch, Colleen K. Lynch and Amanda J. Lynch. Proud grandfather of Mason Lawrence Lynch. Brother of James R. Lynch, III (Gerri). He is also survived by his nieces, Jamie McNeice and Claire Calderon, as well as many cousins, other extended family and friends.
Gerald attended the University of New Orleans where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He worked as a Chemical Engineer at Union Carbide for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Louisiana Steam Train Association (LASTA) and was a member of the crew that refurbished the 745 steam engine that was located in Audubon Park.
Gerald loved aviation and owned an Ultralight aircraft for many years. He also loved to travel the world. His love of history inspired his trips to over 42 countries. Gerald prided himself of being able to fix anything. If he didn't have the piece to fix something, he would make it himself.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, April 25, 2024 beginning at 10:00 AM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 PM, immediately followed by a repast at the funeral home.
