Eugenie Mary Simon Bourgeois entered into Heaven on July 27, 2011 at the age of 51 with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Christine Bourgeois and Christine’s father, Joseph “Joey” F. Bourgeois, Jr. She was the devoted daughter of Joseph and Jacqueline Simon and the adoring sister of Paula Simon, Jack Simon and Gregory Simon as well as the sister-in-law of Susan “Sue” Dufrene Simon and Kay Stone Simon. She was the godmother of her niece Mindy Simon Lepine. Eugenie was also survived by her nephew Dustin, her great-nephew Devin and her great-niece Alyssa. She also leaves behind her godmother Sandy Rodrigue and a special cousin BobbieLynn S. Babin who were with her until the end as well as numerous other aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Marrero and was a resident of Westwego for the past 25 years.
Eugenie was an active Parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marrero. She was Salutatorian of Immaculata High School, class of 1978 and she later graduated from Delgado Community College. She worked for the past 31 years with First National Bank of Jefferson Parish which was acquired by Hibernia National Bank and later became Capital One Bank.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff of Touro Infirmary, especially Dr. Joan Cheng, and Guardian Angel Hospice as well as River Regions Hospice Facility where she received excellent care.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO, LA on Sunday, July 31, 2011 beginning at 5:00 PM and lasting until 9:00 PM and again on Monday, August 1, 2011 beginning at 8:00 AM and lasting until 9:30 AM at which time a procession will be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 Seventh St., Marrero, LA for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will then follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, LA.
