Elda Perez Matherne

Elda Perez Matherne passed away on February 6, 2023 at the age of 88. She was born on October 15, 1934 in Lafitte, Louisiana to the late Skiro and Gertie Brunet Perez. Devoted wife of the late Charles J. Matherne. Loving mother of James Matherne, Sr. (Diana), Cynthia Rojas (Ernest), Joey Matherne (Georganne) and the late Paul "Skiro" Matherne. Proud grandmother of Heide Gisclair (Doyle), James Matherne, Jr. (Victoria), Theron Rojas, Alaric Rojas (Ashly), Deidre Bourgeois (Kale), Brennan Rojas (Paula), Trent Rojas (Gina) Christopher Adams, Michelle Matherne and Jolie Matherne as well as many great-grandchildren. Sister of Hazel Perez Helmer, Arthur Perez Sr., Cheryl Perez Dempster, Judy Perez Scioneaux, and the late Leo Perez, Tilden Perez, Elsie Perez, Jerry Perez Sr and David Perez. Elda is also survived by many other extended family, her loving godchildren and dear friends.

Elda was always the life of the party. She was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger. She loved to play cards and go to the casino but most of all she loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed doing crafts with her grandchildren. Elda was also a dedicated member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lafitte, and she said the rosary on a daily basis. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at St. Pius X Cemetery, 8151 Barataria Blvd Crown Point, Louisiana.
