Doris Ducote Corcoran

Doris Ducote Corcoran, age 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 in Harvey, Louisiana. Born in Mansura, Louisiana to Resaire Ducote and Winnie Mayeaux Ducote, Doris carried with her strong values and traditions of her roots throughout her life. She dedicated herself fully to raising her family as a full-time mother, nurturing her children with patience, faith, and unconditional love.

Affectionately known to her grandchildren as MawMaw, Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful Catholic who lived a full century of grace, warmth, and unwavering love for her family.

Doris found joy in the simple pleasures – reading, working jigsaw puzzles on her iPad, and spending cherished moments with her family. Doris was a devoted parishioner of Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Harvey, Louisiana. Her deep Catholic faith guided her through every season of life, and her quiet strength touched all who knew her. She was especially known for her delicious recipes, particularly her gumbo, which was her favorite among family and friends who often sought her cherished recipe. Doris never wanted to miss a family gathering, always cherishing the time spent with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Corcoran; her son Daniel Simon; her son-in-law, Harry Lester; and her siblings Riley, Cecile, Joseph, and Raymond.

She is survived by her children: Elaine Lester, Kathy Donovan, Janet Pipitone, Gary Corcoran, Susan Corcoran, Lisa Ronquille (Jarvis), and her daughter-in-law Glenda Simon. Doris was the proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held 11:00AM on Thursday, April 17th, 2025 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 9:00AM and continue until the service time. Doris will be laid to rest following the Funeral Service at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana.
