Cherie Willoz Mitchell passed away peacefully at home March 23, 2021 at the age of 76 in the loving care of her husband and daughter. She is proceeded in death by her parents Warren Morris Willoz Sr. and Vivian Sarah (Givens) Willoz and her sister Charion Hemphill (Phillip). She is survived by her siblings Cindy Krummel (Freddie) and Warren Willoz Jr. (Patti). Cherie cherished her beloved husband of 55 years, Charles ‘Tony’ Mitchell and her loving daughter Wendy Sawyer (Cliff Collins). Cherie lived a truly full and active life as a loving grandmother of Lauren, Colin, Reagan, and Trent along with being an aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Cherie grew up in the Irish Channel and valued her family. She carried the passion of celebrating traditions for her family and community throughout her life. She moved to Avondale in 1971 and was a leader of numerous clubs, groups, and organizations of which provided countless wonderful, colorful memories for everyone. She graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in 1962 in New Orleans. Cherie held numerous positions throughout her life in sales and office management as she retired from Delta Coatings, Inc after 25 years in the accounts receivables and payroll departments. She is remembered for always offering encouragement and compliments to everyone she had contact with both young and old. Cherie was giving of herself and lovingly accepting others which drew people to her. She was an active lifelong parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Cherie’s Life on Monday, March 29, 2021 for 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass for 12 PM at St. Bonaventure Church located on 329 S Jamie St. in Avondale.
