On Friday, December 24, 2021 Mr. Charles Tate Hampton, Jr. Peacefully transitioned into Eternal Rest in the arms of His Heavenly Father at the age of 85 yrs. He was born October 11, 1936 to the union of the late Armour Tate, Sr. and Lillie Brown.
Charles Tate Hampton was a native of New Orleans, LA and a longtime resident of Marrero, LA. At the tender age of 19, Charles met and united in Holy Matrimony on November 12, 1955 to Rachel A. Valdery and to the union 6 children.
Charles was baptized in the Christian Community of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church on April 2, 1983. Charles then in 1984 joined Knights of Peter Claver #267 where he served diligently for 37yrs. He enjoyed watching western movies, cooking, reading the newspaper and grocery shopping.
Charles was educated in the Orleans Parish Public School System. He was a retired Bus Driver for RTA Public Transit.
Charles Tate Hampton, Jr. Memories will forever be in our hearts. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving Wife Rachel A. Valdery Hampton. Seven Children: Debra Stewart, Glenda Hampton Brown, Derrick Hampton, Wendell (Paula) Hampton, Acquanetta (Charles) Jasmin, Rachell Hampton and Terrance Hampton.
Six Siblings: Cynthia McDaniels, Loretta Cowart, Stephanie Tate, Frank James (Frances) O'Brien,Jr., Steven Tate and Timothy Jackson. His loving Brother-In-Law Dale (JoAnn) Valdery. Charles was the Godfather to Danielle Tiffany Allen.
Charles is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who loved him dearly. Charles is preceded in death by his parents-Armour Tate and Lillie Brown, his father & mother-in law-Deriel and Annie Valdery, his Aunt-Lillian Robertson, his sister-in-law- Angela Valdery and his cousin- Josie B. Morris.
Family, Friends, Members of The Knights of Peter Calder are invited to attend Charles Tate Hampton Homegoing Celebration on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 455 Ames Boulevard, Marrero, LA for 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 8:30 am. Reverend Sidney Speaks, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Nine Mile Point, Westwego, LA.
