Carole Antoinette Nicholson Nicholson Malbrough

Carole Antoinette Nicholson Malbrough passed away peacefully with her devoted daughter and Frs. Matthew and Michael by her side on Thursday, October 6, 2016 in Houston. She was the widow of Carroll Joseph “C.J.” Malbrough and was predeceased by her parents, John Nicholson and Eve Jeansonne Nicholson; her brothers, Senator Elwyn J. Nicholson and Dr. Farrell R. Nicholson; and her grandparents Elgie “Papa Jay” Nicholson and Mary Dubroc Nicholson. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Michelle Louise Malbrough Clayton and her husband Brian Scott Clayton, along with a host of loving relatives and friends. Carole was born on May 3, 1940 in Eunice, Louisiana. She graduated from Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans and attended LSU. A New Orleanian at heart, this steel magnolia from Lakeview cherished the finer things in life and had exquisite taste. She delighted in cooking and travel, and enjoyed a full, rich life filled with success, happiness and many treasured moments.

When she met the love of her life, “C.J” Malbrough, he knew then she would become his bride. His dream became a reality on February 11, 1961 in St. Dominic Church. Carroll and Carole owned Louisiana Smoked Meats Inc. and she later worked for the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s office. A member of Cleopatra Carnival Krewe, she reveled in many Mardi Gras celebrations. In recent years, she attended St. Joachim Catholic Church.

A visitation at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home is on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 6-9 pm and on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 8-10 am. The Funeral Mass at 10 am will be followed by the procession to the Metairie Lakelawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Carole’s favorite charity, the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, www.nationalww2museum.org/give.
