Betty Jeanne Gonia

Betty Jeanne Matulich Gonia passed away peacefully on July 28, 2017 at the age of 88. Born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 10, 1928. Betty moved to New Orleans at the age of 12. Preceded in death by her parents, John Clinton Matulich and Beulah Maxine Clark; brothers Mack Clinton Matulich and Kent Allen Matulich; husband Edward Gonia Jr.; and grandson David Paul Lucas. Survived by her children, Judith Alonzo Kirk (Paul), Mickey Alonzo Kalosky (David), Bonnie Alonzo Palermo Albert (Felix), Sandra Alonzo Davis, Herman Carl Alonzo, Jr. (Lynn Sancez Alonzo), and Connie Alonzo Achor; 15 Grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a sister-in-law Leala Matulich. As a devout Christian, Betty was a member of Abundant Life Church for 23 years.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
