Arlene was born in Arabi, Louisiana and moved to Terrytown when her family was very young. She had been a faithful member of Christ the King Parish since then, having served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She gave much of her time to helping others, including working with ConKerr Cancer, an organization that brings bright and fun pillowcases to children in the hospital to give them an emotional boost. Arlene not only bought material and made pillowcases for the children, she also rallied support for donations to make even more, prayed over each pillowcase she made, and delivered them herself to the patients at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. She was an active supporter of St. Jude, and sponsored a child in the Philippines to help give her a better life. She prayed daily for everyone in need, even those she’d never met.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Samuel Vallery, Sr. and Mildred Rita Augustine Vallery, and her brother, Edgar Samuel Vallery, Jr. She leaves behind her devoted husband of almost 60 years, Harold Joseph Logrande, Jr.; her loving children and their spouses Lisa (Tom) Smialek, Lori (Danny) Baldassaro, and Jamey (Sarah) Logrande; her grandchildren Allie, Olivia, Elise, Spencer, Trevor, Michael, Caleb, and Zoe; her dearest lifelong friend Gail Fayard; close family members Miriam Caronia and Dora and Joe Trosclair; and many self-proclaimed “favorites” including Lorraine Digangi, Chad Vallery, Michael Trosclair, and Doc (who was actually her favorite!).
Please join us for a funeral mass at Christ the King Church on Saturday, August 21st at 1PM (doors open for last respects at 11AM), followed by food and fellowship in celebration of her life after the burial at the home of Harold Logrande. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to St. Jude Hospital in her honor.
