At a very young age, Al's love of music surfaced in his talent for playing the guitar. During his life, Al played and sang in bands which is how he met his wife, Renella. His musical ability even followed him to France, where he served his country as an army medic during the Korean Conflict. His army buddies maintained their friendships through the reunions across the country of the 28th General Hospital, where they shared stories and songs whenever they met. Not only did he play the guitar, but also the organ, piano, accordion, mandolin, and fiddle. He could play any song he heard on any instrument he picked up. He shared this love with his family, many of whom have inherited his musical talent. Even late in life, joining the band at Mulate's to play with his son, Bo, gave him great joy.
Al ran his own TV repair shop for over thirty years. He and Renella were members of Visitation of Our Lady Church Parish for over sixty years, beginning after moving into the house Al built on his own, in Marrero. He enjoyed building and repairing things all of his life. After his retirement, in addition to playing his music and traveling to visit his army buddies, tending his vegetable garden became a major focus of his days. He also thoroughly enjoyed being with his family, especially playing cards with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Renella Orgeron Ledet; his parents, Norris Ledet and Emmaline Tabor Ledet; and his brothers, Herman Ledet and Raymond Ledet. He leaves behind his four children: Yvonne (Russell) Gamble, Alfred "Bo" Ledet, Jr., Annette (Jay) Casso, and Gary Ledet; eight grandchildren: Amanda (Jeff) Fontenot, Jessica (Tyler) Pierce, Claire Gamble, Paul (Courtney) Griffin, Christina (Demond) LaSalle, Julie (Tevyn) Cagins, Joseph Casso, and Holly Casso; nine great grandchildren: Hunter, Grant, and Addison Fontenot, Owen Pierce, Alora and Everly Cagins, Gianna and Jolie LaSalle, and River Griffin; and two sisters: Diane St. Pierre and Elizabeth "Betty" Mundine.
