Memorial services (come and go, sign in, and reflections) will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas. No other services are scheduled.
Mrs. Fairman passed away on February 8, 2024, at Providence St. Catherine’s in Waco, Texas. She was undergoing rehabilitation at Heritage House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rosebud, Texas. We are grateful for all your support.
She was born at the Buie Allen Hospital in Marlin, Texas, on July 26, 1938, to George E. “Bacon” Pauling and Rosella Woodland Pauling.
Mrs. Fairman had a passion for writing. Along with her husband, she created and published The Sun Paper in Marlin and delivered the Waco and Dallas Paper in Marlin for many years. They also managed the old Greyhound Bus Station on Highway 6. Mrs. Fairman enjoyed acting and participated in numerous plays at the Palace Theater, as well as fundraising events. She was a devout Baptist and loved to cook for her family and guests. Together with her husband, she owned and operated a restaurant on Highway 6 in Marlin, and she worked as a waitress at Houston Restaurant. In her leisure time, Mrs. Fairman enjoyed listening to music, singing, playing cards, canasta, dominoes, and 42 at the Civic Center. She also had a fondness for reading detective and mystery novels, as well as creating flower arrangements.
Mrs. Fairman was preceded in death by her parents, Rosella W. Pauling, and George E. Pauling; husband, Dan W. Fairman Jr.; sons, Jim J. Boyd Jr., and Robin Buie Boyd Sr., her brothers, James W. Pauling, George Pauling Jr., and Conrad Pauling.
Mrs. Fairman is survived by her daughter Janice Boyd Austin of Louisiana, son Johnny Boyd Sr. of Texas, grandchildren Johnny R. Boyd Jr., of Texas and Robin Boyd Jr., Lynette Boyd, Christopher Boyd, Rachael and Richard Knudson, Charles and Toni Austin, and Justina Austin Vaughn, all of Louisiana, as well as numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
