Rodney graduated from Eagle Lake High School in Eagle Lake, Texas in 1962. After graduation he worked various jobs before starting at WKM in Missouri City. He was an Inventory Line Manager for 20 years overseeing the construction of ball valves used in pipelines. After this time, he worked other jobs in the oil industry including Cooper and Shell. One of his many highlights throughout his career was his team making many of the valves used on the Alaskan Pipeline.
In his younger days, Rodney enjoyed coaching his sons Little League baseball, hunting, and helping with their 4-H livestock projects. He enjoyed watching sports, as well as keeping up with his children, grandchildren, and friends. Rod served as an Usher for many years at Mims Baptist Church. In later years, Rodney and Cindy enjoyed spending time with friends, Ron and Beulah Mathes, playing games and taking short trips.
Rodney is survived by his wife Cynthia, his four sons Robert Adams, Ross Adams, Randy Adams, and Ronnie Adams and two he loved as his own, Matt Hamilton and Lindsay Hamilton Ramsour and 15 grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his aunt, Pat Lamson, cousins Rosalee Schraeder, Susan Fitzpatrick, Robert Wetzel, Shelly Yelvington, and Vickie Nunn, and nephew, Chris Fikes.
Rodney was preceded in death by his mother Nelene “Rowena” Adams and his sister Gloria Fikes.
He will be honored at a family graveside burial service at Hillcrest Cemetery, FM 147, Marlin on February 7, 2024, at 1 PM.
