Robert (Bob) Kupper, 91, went to his Eternal Reward on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, October 30, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marlin, TX. Visitation will be Saturday at 6:00 pm at the Adams Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm.
Bob was born April 18, 1920 in Gainesville, TX, the youngest child of Joe and Rose (Hofer) Kupper and had six brothers and two sisters. He married Florene Endres, November 20, 1946 and they had a family of six children.
Bob became a full time employee of the USDA Soil Conservation Service in 1949 working in Muenster, TX, then Giddings, TX before transferrring to Marlin where he served the remainder of his 33 years of service. After retiring in 1980, Bob ranched, worked in construction, Real Estate, and as an Auctioneer. Auctioneering came naturally since his father was also a auctioneer. Most of that work was for charitable events where Bob's sense of humor and quick sales patter made people feel good about spending more than they planned.
Bob first joined the Knights of Columbus in 1944 and was an active member throughout is life. He was a charter member of the Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus council, serving as Grand Knight on three occasions and as the District Deputy. Bob was active in the St. Joseph's parish for over 50 years where he ministered to the elderly and served as Eucharistic and Liturgy minister.
Bob grew up on a farm, was around agriculture all of his life and enjoyed raising animals of all kinds. Among his favorites were Blue, a brahma bull, and Ol'Dan, a horse from his childhood, and any grandchild sitting on his lap listening to his harmonica playing. He was legendary among his grandchildren as a dominoes czar, stroyteller, harmonica player, yodeler, tractor driver, cattleman, and a playmate.
