Edna Eva Landreth Machen passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 in Smithville, Texas. She was born July 6, 1942 to Jimmie and Oleta Lewallen in Pasadena, Texas. She married Virgle Landreth on September 11, 1959 in Winters, Texas. Together they had four children, Jimmie, Terri, Hayley, and Tracy. Edna married James Machen on March 23, 2002, and they resided happily on a small farm in Bend, Texas.
Edna was an avid breeder and racer of thoroughbreds and loved animals. She had a variety of pets including a buffalo and Freddie the buzzard, who she rescued and cared for after he was injured. Edna was also a devoted fan of the Baylor Bears. She was most passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren including Ty, Tara (Casey), Casey (Ken), Brandon, Morgan (Paige), Hunter, Blakelee (Kegan), Lane, Kennedi, Connor, Lincoln, George, Collin, James, and John; and her great-grandchildren Logan, Ethan, Ruby, and Knox.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Verena Lewallen. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, James Machen, her brother Jimmie Lewallen, her children Jimmie (Shelly), Terri, Hayley (Kamron), and Tracy (Mandi), her step-sons Cody and Casey (Christen), and former son-in-laws Randy and Tom.
Pallbearers include Brandon White, Morgan Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Ethan Ellis, Logan Ellis, Ty Beseda and honorary pallbearer Braden Taylor.
Viewing will be from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Adams Funeral in Marlin followed by a graveside service at Carolina Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
