Charles was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Marlin where he was baptized and confirmed. He served in the Texas National Guard having joined that service in 1968 after graduating from Marlin High School. He had been employed at General Tire in Waco and worked as a carpenter and a cowboy his entire life.
On September 13, 1969, he married Judy Neumann and from that union his two children were born: daughter, Jennifer Wilson and son, Preston Haak. On June 4, 1995, he married Becky Polk Wilton and with that marriage he acquired the addition of children Cody Wilton and wife Kathy, Cory Wilton and wife Jodi, Jody Wilton and Jana Wilton.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles Shelton Haak, Sr. and Lorena Kluck Haak, his wife Becky Haak, stepson Jody Wilton and son-in-law George Curry Wilson.
He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Wilson and grandson Calan Wilson, of Lorena, Texas; his son Preston Haak and wife Lynita of Menlow, Texas, grandsons Tanner Haak, Caden Haak, Dylan Aldrich and Jaydon Aldrich. Also surviving are his brothers, Terry Haak and wife Gail, and James Haak all of Marlin, aunts Marlene Haak of Temple, Texas and Shirley Barrett of Waco, Texas. Nephews Jeremey Haak and wife Beth, Kevin Haak and niece Sharon Barrett. He was beloved ‘Papa C’ to Becky’s grandchildren Kaylin Wilton, Hayden Wilton, and Heston Wilton.
As requested by Charles, there will no service and only a private family burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas. Memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church Marlin, Texas.
