A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel.
Archielee was born November 7, 1939, in Miami, Florida to Gwendolyn Sumpter Quarterman and Archie Palmer Quarterman. She graduated from Miami Jackson High School and The Salvation Army Officers Training College in Atlanta, Georgia, as a Probationary-Lieutenant in 1959. While serving as an officer/minister in The Salvation Army, she was stationed in Pensacola, Florida; Panama City, Florida; Tampa; and West Palm Beach, Florida. Her final appointment at the Headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. where she served as Executive Secretary for the Editor-in-Chief of the War Cry, official publication of the Salvation Army. She attained the rank of Captain before her resignation in 1966.
After her work in the Salvation Army, she worked at the First National Bank of Miami, the 1st National Bank of Miami Springs and at the Dade County Board of Education and the Stores & Distributions of Dade County Schools.
She retired in 1995 after 24 years of services with the Veterans Administration Medical Service, where she had worked five years in surgery in Miami, Florida VA, two years in Admissions in Miami, three years in scheduling service in Waco VA and fourteen years with the Chief of Medical Service in the VA Medical Center in Marlin, TX.
Archielee married the love of her life Neale McGuire on July 13, 1977 and together they raised their daughter. She loved nature especially horses, flowers and birds. This love was evident in her artwork and photography. She was devoted to her many pets throughout her life.
Archielee was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Raymond Neale McGuire; mother Gwendolyn Decker; step-father Donald Decker; father Archie Palmer Quarterman; brother Tallman Maurice Quarterman; sister Patricia Pearle McRae; brother-in-law James Alvin McRae; nephew James Archer McRae and niece Desiré Dawn DiNegro.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracey McGuire Wilson and husband Brad of Austin; sister Lainie Quarterman of Florida; and brothers John Robinson and wife Gail of Florida, George Robinson of South Carolina and James Robinson and wife Peggy of Hawaii.
