Mary E. Thompson, 85 of Bluffton passed away at 5:35pm on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton. Mary was a homemaker. She had attended Sonlight Wesleyan Church in Bluffton. Mary was a regular supporter of Billy Graham Ministries. She was an avid reader and enjoyed caring for her family.
Mary was born on April 20, 1929 in Sumner County, Tennessee, a daughter of Issiac N. and Hattie G. Shrum.
She was united in marriage to Bernard Ray Thompson on October 9, 1948 in Franklin, Kentucky. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include four sons: Dwight E. Thompson of Fort Wayne; Glenn R. Thompson of Berne; Darrell R. Thompson of Columbia City; Michael E. Thompson of Bluffton; two daughters: Linda C. Williams of Port Charlotte, FL; Lois Lahr of Fort Wayne; one brother: Ben R. Shrum of College Town, PA; 15 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Betty L. Shrum; three brothers: Charles W. Shrum; John H. Shrum, Thomas N. Shrum and four half-sisters: Daisy B. George, Susie L. Russell, Beulah Crowder, Martha F. Phillips and a grandson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 3:00 – 7:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10:00am at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel.
Interment will be at the Horeb Cemetery in Uniondale.
