David J. Brooks, 72 of Markle passed away at his residence on March 20, 2022. Dave was a 1968 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and a 1972 graduate of Ball State University receiving degrees in English and Journalism. He worked as an ad rep for The Huntington County Tab since July of 1987. Prior he was editor of the Four Corners Courier in Roanoke. From 1990 to 2001 he managed and served as projectionist of the Huntington Drive-In and Huntington Theater, along with his family. Dave was a member of Markle Church of Christ since 1976. He enjoyed movies, horror movies, cartoons and especially The Three Stooges. Dave loved pizza, Coca-Cola and he collected Coca-Cola memorabilia.
He was born on March 3, 1950 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, the son of the late C. J. and Joan (Endicott) Brooks.
He was united in marriage to Peggy LeCounte on July 13, 1974 in Hobart, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife: Peggy Brooks of Markle; two sons: Joseph (Trisha) Brooks of Fort Wayne, Jared Brooks of Markle; a daughter: Juliette (Andy) Boggs of Fort Wayne; two brothers: Jon Brooks of Granada Hills, CA, Jeff Brooks of Crawfordsville; a sister: Phyllis (Roger) Kenny of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren: Wesley, Cora, Harrison, and Desmond.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse Street, Markle, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Markle Church of Christ at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service with Gerald O. Moreland officiating.
Interment will take place at Markle Cemetery in Markle.
