Willie Rosevelt Johnson

Mr. Johnson was born April 11, 1937 in Kershaw, SC to the late Ira Johnson and Marion James Johnson. He worked for Columbia Forest Products and was a member of Word of Power Ministries in Gastonia, NC. He was a Jack of all trades and a carpenter who was great with his hands. Mr. Johnson was an outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting and guns. He was also a guitarist and loved music.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Johnson.

Left behind to cherish Mr. Johnson’s memory are two sons, Rosevelt Boyd Johnson and wife, DeeDee of Stamford, CT and Willie Rosevelt Johnson, Jr. and wife, Ella of Rutherfordton, NC; one daughter, Jacqueline Johnson of Silver Spring, MD; two sisters, Mattie L. Houser of Stamford, CT and Maggie M. Hicklen and husband, William of Charlotte, NC; one sister-in-law, Vivian Whiteside of Lake Lure, NC; three grandchildren, Rosevelt, Travis and Anthony Johnson; niece and nephews, Darlene Hicklen, Stanley Hicklen and William Hicklen, Jr.; special cousins, Clifton Champion and Betty Stevenson; other relatives; and his beloved dog, Roscoe.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 17, 2014 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC with Apostle Dorothy L. Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Lake Lure, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
