He was born April 6, 1936 in Caldwell County, NC to the late Robert Lee Taylor and Esther Helton Taylor. Mr. Taylor retired from G.T.E. after 42 years of dedicated service and was a member of West Court Baptist Church. He was also an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Ward.
Surviving Mr. Taylor are his wife of 58 years, Melba Sue Young Taylor of the home; two sons, Roy Keith Taylor and wife, Connie of Marion and Roy Lee Taylor, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Nebo; two brothers, Ray Taylor of Asheville and David Taylor of Black Mountain; one sister, Shirley Goodman of Asheville; five grandchildren, Kevin Byrd, Holly Croom, Dustin Taylor, Brooke Hudgins and Bethany Hensley; six great-grandchildren; two aunts; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 18,2013 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. James Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at West Court Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to say “Thank You”, to The Black Mountain Neuromedical Treatment Center 3R, for the special love and care shown to Mr. Taylor and his family.
