Jerry Burdett Whittington

Jerry Burdett Whittington, 55, of Marion, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. Born on January 1, 1958 in Yancey County he was the son of Genevieve Edwards Whittington and the late Hiram Burdett Whittington.

Jerry loved to fish and was a very artistic painter. He loved spending time with his boys. He was a loving father, son and brother.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Hiram Burdett Whittington and step-brother, Michael Edwards. He is survived by his mother, Genevieve Edwards Whittington; sons, Matthew, David, Daniel and Mark Whittington of Marion; sister, Gail Eller and her husband, Mark of Nebo; and brother, Jeff Whittington of Marion.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Pinnacle Missionary Baptist Church in Marion with the Reverend Mark Hollifield and the Reverend Ronald McKinney officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the church.
