He was born February 22, 1933 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Tom Davis and Mattie Hoke Davis. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. National Guard where he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and worked as a Barber for Courtesy Barber Shop in Candler, NC and as a truck driver for Dedmon Trucking Company. He loved to be active and enjoyed riding his bicycle.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Dillie Juanita Lyons Davis.
Surviving Mr. Davis are three daughters, Julie Diane Moore of Old Fort, NC, Anita Faye Tipton of Marion, NC and Debbie Elaine Spencer and husband, Rodney of Shelby, NC; five grandchildren, Charity Vess and husband, Jeremy of Old Fort, NC, Paul Compton and wife, Teresa of Marion, NC, Jake Davis of Old Fort, NC, Chad Tipton and wife, Laura of Marion, NC and Stuart Tipton of Old Fort, NC; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. Mark Lawing and Rev. David Blackwelder officiating. Burial will follow at Cherry Springs Memorial Park.
