Harold Edward Tate

Mr. Harold Edward Tate, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 27, 2017. Harold was born the son of the late James Miller Tate and Christina Corpening Tate on April 26, 1944 in McDowell County. He was a life-long member of St. John AME Church in Nebo and had served as a church trustee. He was a patient, quiet and loving person. Harold enjoyed fishing, gardening and especially mowing his lawn. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Harold will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Harold is preceded in death by a brother, James Eugene Tate.

Those left behind to cherish Harold’s memory include his wife of 48 years, Mary Carson Tate; a son, Dante Tate and his wife Maria of CA; two daughters, Michelle Carson of Nebo and Tonya Tate of Hickory; four brothers, Melvin Tate of PA, Ronald Tate of Nebo, Nathaniel Tate and his wife Maria of Fayetteville, and Samuel Tate of PA; a sister, Minnie Rutherford of Nebo; and three grandchildren, Jeree Jackson, Alexander Tate and Celestia Tate. Also surviving are numerous special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November1, 2017 at St. John AME Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family suggests memorials be made to the St. John AME Church Building Fund.
