Mr. Davis was born April 19, 1932 in McDowell County, NC to the late Carvel Virgil Davis and Maudie Hoyle Davis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Cherry Springs Baptist Church. Some of his hobbies included fishing, coin collecting and reading. His passion was music. He was an accomplished musician and played professionally for many years in several different bands.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Max W. Davis and his sister, Ivery Jean Davis.
Those left behind to cherish Mr. Davis’s memory are his beloved wife of 68 years, Jean Davis; three children, James Fred Davis of Columbia, SC, Robert F. Davis and wife, Amy of Old Fort, NC and Linda Turner and husband, Mark of Flowery Branch, GA; one brother, Vernon Davis of Conway, SC; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Cherry Springs Baptist Church. A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Davis’s life will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Marty Conner officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cherry Springs Memorial Park.
