Billy Gene Thomas

Mr. Billy "Bill" Gene Thomas, age 79 of Marion/Nebo, passed away on Thursday June 28, 2018 while in the care of Deer Park Rehabilitation and Care Center. Bill was born to the late Lawrence Richard Thomas and Faye Irene Morgan Thomas on September 17, 1938 in McDowell County.

Bill was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church and was an honorable discharged veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid stamp collector, bird watcher, gardener and reader. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He willy be greatly missed.

Along with this parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Patricia Mae Hughes Thomas, and a brother Hershel Thomas.

Those left behind to cherish Bill's memory include a son, Steven Gregory Thomas (Angela) of Marion; two daughters, Pamela Faith Styles (Ricky) of Nebo and Angela Renea Stamey (Robbie) of Morganton; a brother, Gerald Thomas (Jean) of Marion; a sister, Nita Caldwell of Lincolnton; either grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, July 2, 2018 I the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home and the Rev. Freddie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park with military honors/ The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
