

She was born June 2, 1930 in Mitchell County, NC to the late John Henry and Elizabeth Frye. Ms. Phillips retired from Galey & Lorde after 35 years of service and she attended Grace Baptist Church. Some of her hobbies included travel, shopping, crochet and making jewelry. More than anything she loved being with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by six siblings, Viola, Louise, Doris, Bessie, Clarence and Ruby.
Surviving Ms. Phillips are two sons, Frank Phillips and wife, Jolene of Marion, NC and Johnny Phillips of Marion, NC; three daughters, Patricia Gaver and husband, Art of Knoxville, TN, Kathy McNeil and husband, Chuck of Carrollton, GA and Diana Hensley of Marion, NC; six grandchildren, Amy Phillips, Sam Phillips and wife, Jennifer, Julie Demby and husband, Steve, Anna Gilreath and husband, Michael J., Jennifer Mendonca and husband, Mike and Shawn McNeil and wife, Heather; ten great-grandchildren; three nephews, David Parlier, Mike Ensley and Joe Lawing; and a special niece, Kay Lanning and husband, Tommy.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 26, 2015 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
