William, fondly known as Bill, was born to William and Charlotte Grimm, on September 19, 1956, in Decatur, Georgia. He was a business owner, proudly serving his community at Rite Price Auto Repair for well over 30 years. Affectionately known as “dad’s shop”, his business was a long-standing, well-known establishment on Canton Road. Bill was a private pilot and flying was his passion. You could often find him at his hanger in Calhoun, GA tinkering with his airplane, a Cessna 172N.
Bill is survived by his wife Shirley and their three children, Stephanie (Jay), Evan and Eric (Tami). He leaves behind six grandchildren, Aiden, Landon, Keira, Tristan, Bella, and Sebastian. In addition, he leaves behind the beloved Walter II (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and a multitude of friends and extended family who cared for him deeply.
To his wife, Shirley, January 14, 2024, would have marked their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Bill and Shirley have been together their entire adult lives.
His children will always remember their dad’s lessons and the countless hours he spent instilling in them a strong work ethic, independence, self-responsibility, integrity, self-reliance, and critical thinking skills.
His children will miss the many conversations their dad had with them about thought provoking issues.
Most of all, they will miss his sense of humor and his playfulness.
Bill held many roles in his life, from entrepreneur to pilot, but he most cherished the role of being a grandfather. His heart seemed to triple in size when his first grandson, Aiden, was born. Bill put his heart and time into every one of his grandkids. He took them on airplane rides, built them electric bikes, taught them to drive, flew his plane to Florida for grandaddy visits, held “grandaddy’s survival school”, played “grandaddy monster”, fed them way too many donuts, and was known by all the grandkids as being playful, fun and the best grandaddy ever.
The family would like to celebrate Bill’s life with the many people who cared for him.
Bill will be sorely missed but his impact on people’s lives and the memories that are held dear will live on in all who knew him.
Bill’s family will host a gravesite service and internment on Friday, December 29th, 2023, at 2pm. The service will be at Georgia Memorial Park, 2000 Cobb Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, from 4pm to 8pm at 2131 Moon Station Drive NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
