Visitation will be held at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway S.E., Marietta, Georgia, 30060, on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Graveside service, to honor and celebrate Bill’s life, will be held at Marietta National Cemetery, 500 Washington Avenue N.E., Marietta, Georgia, 30060, Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 11:00 o’clock. This tall stature of a man lived a long and loving life. Bill was born on February 5, 1925 in Holt, FL to Ora & Charles Brunson. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Jewell Brunson after a marriage of 38 years and his daughter Susan Gail Brunson. He was a member of the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Boston from 1943 to 1945. He was a carpenter by trade. In our eyes and by his stories, he built half of the houses from Marietta to Atlanta with his bare hands. Bill was an avid bowler, long and lean, with a mean curve. In fact, that is where he met his 2nd wife, Rita Quinn Brunson. As they bowled together in many different leagues, they fell in love. She was his second chance of a life filled with love and happiness. Together they danced at the senior center, traveled to Florida to see the Easter Bunny each year, played countless hours of SkipBo and Rook and even walked the runways for the senior fashion shows. If you knew Bill, you knew never to call & interrupt him during his “numbers” each night as he played the lottery and he always welcomed gifts of “scratchers”. If he wasn’t doing any of the above mentioned activities, you could find him in his chair watching the ball game. He knew every player every season and could always give a recap the next day, even if you thought he was napping. Bill is survived by his loving spouse, Rita Brunson (Quinn), his son Bobby Landers, his daughter Sandra Greenwood, his grandchildren: Michael Landers, Julie (Jim) Keyes, Jamie Landers, Katie Greenwood and Sam Landers, and his Great Grandchildren: Fritz Musser and Jude Keyes. The family wishes to thank Homestead Hospice for their kind and loving service. In lieu of flower, please send memorials to: Homestead Hospice, 1 North Tennessee Street, Cartersville, Georgia, 30120
