W. H. Alexander III, age 51, known to his friends as “Trip”, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022. Trip was born on October 1, 1971 in Richmond, Virginia to the late William H. Alexander Jr. and Penny Louise Holder Alexander. He and his family moved to Atlanta when he was twelve, where he grew up and spent most of his life, with some forays to the west coast.
There really aren’t sufficient words to describe the man that Trip was. He was a beloved husband, father figure, brother, cousin, and friend. Trip was highly motivated and accomplished most every goal he set for himself.
He had an incredible work ethic, which led him to become the Director of Software Development for Auctane Software Company where he was a founding employee and enjoyed leading his team as, as he called himself,Chief Chaos Engineer.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time on the water kayaking and fishing, in the outdoors hunting, mountain biking, or cycling, and had a lifelong love of music of which he was very knowledgeable. Trip loved spending quality time with his wife, family, and close friends. He was kind of heart and fiercely passionate, and had a keen intellect with which he engaged in life. An extrovert, who had a way with words, he rarely met a stranger and, to those close to him, he was a valued shoulder to lean on and a source of wise counsel.
He loved to help tend to his cousin’s farm,Hegarwee, and was happiest when riding the tractor or helping to execute whatever crazy plan they had most recently come up with. Watching the farm prosper was very important to Trip. The times spent with family there were some of his most dear.
He was a very loving and caring man who cherished and provided for his soulmate and wife, Lani, who had been his partner for twenty four years. Theirs was a relationship with lots of laughter, constant conversation, and often singing and dancing, as well as an abiding love.
Trip touched the lives of everyone he met and was a very special man who will never be forgotten. He was a powerful example to others in his life and so very loved. His passing leaves a giant hole in the hearts of those closest to him.
He will be sorely missed by his adoring wife, Lani Alexander, his surviving sisters, Rebekah and her husband Jon Roskos, and their son Max; and Ashley Harris and her son Nicholas; his best friend and cousin, Trey and his wife Sherri Holder and their children, Briley and Trent; his uncle Troy and his wife Lendy Holder; and many extended family members, friends and co-workers who will long cherish his legacy.
A Celebration of Life service is planned for November 5th at the Boxwood Social Hall in Marietta from two until six, with a remembrance ceremony at three. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in Trip’s name to The American Cancer Society or The Humane Society.
