Tom Morin, beloved husband and father, passed away April 3rd, 2022. Tom is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wendy Morin; his four children Tim (Jocelyn), Mike (Claire), Shannon Hillestad (Grant), and Doug; his five grandchildren, Elliott, Therese, Joanna, Peter, and Gianna; his mother Lillian; and his siblings Jerry and Judy.
Tom was born in Blue Island, Chicago to Richard and Lillian Morin. He spent his formative years in the Chicago area before moving to Atlanta in 1976, where he met and fell in love with Wendy. Together they raised their four children in Marietta.
Tom spent much of his career in the food service industry, but his true passion was working with the scouting movement. Tom was deeply involved in the Atlanta Area Council Boy Scouts since 1990. He served as the Scoutmaster for Troop 1776 from 1999 until his passing. Tom, himself an Eagle Scout, was proud to have helped guide 147 scouts to the rank of Eagle, including all three of his sons. Tom was a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow, a Woodbadge Scoutmaster and Bobwhite, and a proud recipient of both the Silver Beaver Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Atlanta Area Council. For the past 8 years he has served as the camp director for Bert Adams Scout Camp. Tom was a longtime fan of the Atlanta Falcons and no was a season ticket holder for 44 years. He was also highly involved at St. Ann’s church where he frequently served as a sacristan.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday April 9, 2022 at 10:30am at the Catholic Church of St. Ann with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Friends of 1776 are requested.
