Sara enjoyed spending time tending to her garden and growing beautiful flowers. She loved to spend her time with friends, often going on camping trips. Sara loved being a grandmother and spending quality time with her family. In her spare time, she painted and taught ceramics class.
On April 14, 1956 she married the love of her life and they spent the following sixty-six years together before her passing.
Along with her parents, Sara is preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Beeland and Ann Gillespie; brothers, William C. Hood Jr., J.D. Hood, and Ted Hood.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Guy Bannister; daughter, Joy (Shawn) Pope; son, Steven (Kathy) Bannister; sister, Peggie Southall; brother, Robert Hood; grandchildren, Gary (Tabby) Bannister, Stevie Bannister, Erica (Travis) Yelton, and Michael (Rachel) Pope; great grandchildren, Avery Yelton, Delaney Yelton, Ashton Yelton, Emily Bannister, Nathan Bannister, Alex Bannister, M.J. Earl; with baby Pope on the way; and many extended family members and friends to cherish her memory.
A graveside service to honor Mrs. Sara Bannister will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 2:00pm at Mountain View Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and Wellstar Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain.
