Sandra Kay Elder Spiller, age 80, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. She was born in Texas on November 14, 1942, daughter of James and Dorothy Elder. Sandy, as she was fondly called, graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachler's Degree in Education. She was a 5th Grade teacher and retired from the Tritt Elementary School.
In her spare time, she loved the Theater, traveling both local and abroad, being with friends and family. She enjoyed time in the mountains and the beach.
Sandy was involved in CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) where she was able to assist children needing care. She was also an usher at The Historical Fox Theater in Atlanta for numerous years. She was Co-Founder of Talents Unlimited; a neighborhood community volunteer. Sandy was passionate about the environment, was a avid lover of house plants-caring for and propagating many types of plants which filled her sunroom.
Sandy was a UGA donor to the Education Fund and also to the Athletic Fund. She loved her dog Kirby and her two granddogs, Bunny and Buddy.
She is survived by her son, Robert Elder Spiller and daughter-in-law, Heather Downs Spiller. A Celebration of Life Service will be held and will be announced forthcoming.
