Robert Edward Eason, Sr. was born to Roy & Thelma Eason July 15th, 1920 in Atlanta. Attended Boys High. His first job was washing buses for the Atlanta Transit Authority at 13. Drafted into World War II, beginning his training at Fort Benning. On a troop carrier ship headed for Japan, the bombs were dropped and the transports continued on for occupation. Stationed in Tokyo as a Tech Sargent over motor pool vehicles coming home 6 months later. Befriending a local Japanese man, Robert gifted him his Army Jeep using his pigeon Japanese 'presento from friendo' upon leaving. He said that the Japanese were a good people and 'had nothing after the war.' He 'did what he could for those poor people.' His children and grandchildren will attest to his largesse, kindness, jovial nature, & love of food (Varsity weekly). When he returned, his original job was waiting for him, but this time he wasn't washing in the night shift but mechanic maintaining buses. Hired by Johns-Manville he became a district sales manager for 13 states retired many years later to his family farm in Cobb. Many knew him as 'Pappa-Daddy', his first grandchild, Jon, around 1 and just beginning to speak called him 'papa's daddy' as best he could. We all have lovingly addressed him as such since.
