Robert “Bob” Martin Connelly, aged 82, of Acworth, GA, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, after a brief and unexpected illness. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Bob was born on February 21, 1942, in Glendale, CA where he spent his childhood before moving to the Atlanta area with his family when he was a teenager. He graduated from Sprayberry High School in Marietta in 1961 and went on to attend the University of Georgia before joining the United States Marine Corps. He then served in the Marine Corps Reserve while working at Lockheed Martin. Shortly after, Bob began a long career in the banking industry, working his way from an entry-level position to a Senior Vice President with C&S Bank/Bank of America.
From a young age, Bob was a natural athlete who enjoyed and tried to master almost every sport he attempted. He was also an avid sports fan and spent many weekends watching University of Georgia, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves games with his family. Bob also collected antique watches and telephones and even had one of his classic telephones featured on the Atlanta television show, “Auction Kings.”
In recent years, Bob enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, including his many canine companions, and being surrounded by the joyous chaos of grandchildren, pets, and a family meal featuring a medium rare steak and a baked potato or a roasted turkey dinner.
Bob is preceded in death by his daughter, Dana Megan Connelly. He is survived by his wife, Laura Tassin Connelly, his children, Robert Tassin Connelly (wife Erin, children Christopher, Brian), Heather Laura Connelly, Tracy Lynn LeSueur (husband William, children Madeline, Michael, Maycie), and his brother, Michael Joseph Connelly (wife Susan, children Melissa and Michael). His memory will be cherished by all who knew him as a dedicated and protective father and grandfather and a true friend.
