Richard H. Rohlwing of Roswell, Georgia, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24th, at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family. Rich was born to Harvey Sr. and Phyllis Kunze Rohlwing in Orlando, Florida, on December 11, 1948, and raised in Venice, Florida. In Venice, he met his wife and high school sweetheart, Linda, who lived a few doors down on the same street. A lifelong Gator and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, he graduated from the University of Florida with BS and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering and later earned his MBA from Jacksonville University. This led to a successful career in telecommunications with Southern Bell/Bell South, Fujitsu and Alcatel. Rich and Linda raised three children, Kelly, Patrick, and Kristen in Florida, before finally settling in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia.
Rich was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and a proud recipient of the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. He loved golfing, playing bridge, water skiing, catching lobsters in the Florida keys, traveling the world, and cheering on his Florida Gators - but mostly he treasured time spent with his family. His infectious smile lit up any room, and his kindness was cherished by all those who had the privilege to know him. Rich’s devotion to his family was unwavering, and his impact on their lives was immeasurable. As we bid him farewell, we celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose kindness and love will always be remembered.
He is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 53 years, his children, Kelly (Jeff) Polich, Patrick (Alisha) Rohlwing, and Kristen (J.R.) Venegas, and his grandchildren, Ryann, Gabe, Noelle, Lock, Avery, and Liesl. He is also survived by his brother Harvey (Cindy) Rohlwing, his sister Sue (Bob) Jones, his sister-in-law Denise (Ralph) Anderson, many beloved nieces and nephews, and his dog Beau.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 15th at the Catholic Church of St. Ann, 4905 Roswell Road, in Marietta. A reception and celebration of Rich’s life will follow at The Mill, 590 Mimosa Boulevard, in Roswell.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests a donation in memory of Richard Rohlwing to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org) or the Lewy Body Dementia Roller Coaster Podcast (https://gofund.me/c416ecb6).
