Services will be held on Saturday Feb. 5 at 2 PM at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home in Marietta, GA, with the Rev. J.R. McAliley III, officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
Raymond was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, family member and friend to all who knew him. Always with a quick wit and humorous nature, he possessed the most wonderful, kind, gentle, loving and caring spirit. Raymond served as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and went on to enjoy a long career as an Engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation.
After a brief illness, Raymond passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Collier Gilstrap, and brother, Joe Neal Gilstrap. Surviving are: Son, David Gilstrap of Marietta; granddaughter, Hannah Logan (Christopher) of Cartersville; one great granddaughter, Olivia Raeann, along with many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Center Congregational Church, 1055 Moores Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30327.
