Melissa Jones Cassell

Melissa Claire Jones Cassell, age 67, died May 24, 2018 at her residence after a short illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Henry Sherrill Cassell III; son, Henry "Clay" Cassell IV of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jessica Claire Hasselbrook of Stockbridge, Emma Jane Cassell and Jackson Cassell both of Brentwood, TN; great granddaughter, Isabella Claire; sister, Rollin Shamblin of Tuscaloosa Al, nephew, Michael Gibbes, niece, Casey Whitson (Ryan); great nephews Gibbes and Grant also of Tuscaloosa, AL.

A native of Huntsville, AL, she was born on October 1, 1950 to the late Billy Joe Jones and Nancy Jane Swindler Jones. She graduated from Auburn University and later Kennesaw University with Bachelors Degrees in Child Psychology and Child Education.

Melissa J. Cassell was a school teacher with Kincaid Elementary School, and was loving wife, mother and home maker. She enjoyed passing her time reading and gardening. Her most beloved pastime of all was spending time with her grandchildren or any craft projects she could do with her granddaughter, Emma Jane. Another enjoyment was spending time with her husband, cheering on her alma mater football teams.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, June 4, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the chapel of HM Patterson and Son Funeral Home -Canton Hill. The interment will be held 2:00 (cdt) graveside, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Huntsville, Al in the family plot next to her parents at Maple Hill Cemetery, 202 Maple Hill St SE, Huntsville, AL 35801.
