Mary Parrish Stieffen, 94, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 in Marietta, GA. Mary was one of ten children born in Wilson's Mills, NC to Joseph E. and Eliza M. Parrish. She attended Meredith College in Raleigh, NC and graduated from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. In her early twenties, she moved to Hampton, VA, married, raised her family and remained there for over 60 years. She was very active in various organizations, especially her church, The First Church of Christ Scientist in Hampton. In 2010 she moved to an active retirement community in Marietta, GA. She enjoyed participating in the many events and was also active in her church, The First Church of Christ Scientist in Marietta. Mary was full of life and was much loved by family and friends. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Basil Peter (Billy) Stieffen and is survived by her daughters Maryann Stieffen Carmack and her husband Larry of Fairhope, AL and Kay Stieffen Brake of Atlanta, GA; son, Basil Peter (BP) Stieffen of Cumming, GA, grandchildren Jennifer Cann, Doug Carmack, Alex Brake and Mary Katherine Brake, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
On Monday, January 9 at H.M. Patterson and Son-Canton Hill Chapel Funeral Home, 1157 Old Canton Rd., Marietta, GA, the family will have a visitation beginning at 1pm with a service to follow at 2pm.
