Mary Evelyn Samples

Mary graduated from high school in East Chicago. While raising her three sons alongside her husband Henry K. Samples, she also worked at their local tax collector’s office.

In her spare time, Mary enjoyed camping with her sisters and all of the children when they were young. She was a talented quilt maker and was very involved with her church family. She also loved flowers and tending to her gardens.

Mary Evelyn is preceded in death by spouse, Henry K. Samples; son, Tom Samples; sisters, Dorothy Cunningham, Mickey Selah and Martha Lou Reinhart.

She is survived by sons, Lee Samples and James Samples; daughter in law, Laura Samples; grandchildren, Holly, Lora, Rob, Kyle and Will Samples; eight great grandchildren; eight great, great grandchildren; and extended family members and friends to cherish her memory.

The family will receive guests for a visitation between the hours of 12:00pm and 2:00pm on Friday, March 17, 2023 at H.M. Patterson Canton Hill with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm.
