Born December 12th, 1926, in Havana, Cuba, Teresita studied Commercial Statistics [Estadistica Commercial] at the University of Havana, being certified as a Public Accountant [Contador Publico]. In Cuba, she served as the assistant to the Minister of Public Health, heading the Statistics department. She emigrated to the United States in 1965 along with her 3 children. In order to accommodate the needs of her young children, she changed her career to teaching, continuing her studies at the University of Georgia, where she received a Masters in Education. She taught Business Education in Georgia and Florida for over 40 years.
She loved her children and grandchildren very much, along with her family and friends, and had a special affection for her peers – her “pandilla” - in the Fraternidad de Contadores Publicos en Exilio, whom she considered family as well. She enjoyed parties, dancing, mischief, and laughter and was a devoted lover of animals, especially dogs and cats. Her smile was ready for friends and strangers alike until the end of her life.
She is survived by her 3 children Maria-Teresa Crump, Roger Barata, and Maria Eugenia Murray and her six grandchildren Matthew Murray, Justin Murray, Alex Barata, Graham Crump, Georgia Murray and Ryan Barata.
