Lewis Rutherford Steely Jr., age 70, of Marietta died Thursday, June 12, 2014. Mr. Steely was retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant, served in the United State Air Force early in his career, and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a sharpshooter, and earned several awards and commendations during his service to his country, including a Cross of Gallantry and a medal for Meritorous Service. Mr. Steely was preceded in death by his father, Lewis R. Steely, Sr. of Mt. Vernon, SC. Survivors include his wife, Hae K. Hong Steely; his mother, Elsie B. Steely of Mt. Vernon, SC; and sisters, Diane and Keith Albrecht of Lakeside, CA, and Susan and Bill Trago of Summerville, SC. Mr. Steely was cremated and the family is planning a private memorial at a later date.
