Larry was born on March 24, 1952 to Robert Lee Reese and Ruby Pitts Reese in Austell, GA. He was one of ten children.
Larry was nicknamed, “Blip” by his granddaddy but some miscommunication in school later caused him to be called “Blimp”. Either way, he responded to both names and found the miscommunication to be quite funny. It is rumored that “Blimp” came from some people that loved watching him play football because he was a big guy and dominated on the field. He actually received a scholarship to attend Auburn University after graduating from South Cobb High School, but he chose to go to work instead.
He landed his first job as a concrete finisher for Ben Brown (his Uncle), kicking off an almost twenty year career in construction. In 1971, he met Lawanda Hamilton and they wed in 1973, going on to have five children: Larry Eugene Reese, Laresa Elette Reese, Lazekiel Emmanuel Reese, Ladebra Evette Reese, and Lawonder Evonne Reese. He continued to work in construction until he suffered a major accident that should have killed him but God kept him and used him for His glory.
Larry committed himself to the work of the Lord and helped to work and build several ministries before he started his own. He continued to preach and teach to anyone with ears to hear. If he was trying to teach you something, you better be still and listen! The last 16 years or more, Larry went on to teach the Israel of Yahweh with his best friend of over 45 years, Clifford Bernard. They were committed to their radio broadcast, every Sunday morning, and their audience thanked them for their commitment.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his time in nature. He loved hunting, fishing and cultivating his garden. He definitely had a green thumb; he could make anything grow! He loved to share his fruits and veggies because he knew he would be hearing how good they were. He took pride in the whole process of gardening, cooking, and eating what he knew was the best fruits and vegetables around.
Larry was predeceased by his father (Robert Lee Reese), mother (Ruby Pitts Reese), four brothers and three sisters (Ray Reese, Faye Reese, Willie Lawrence Reese, Robert Lewis Reese, Tim Reese, Shirley Brown, Sandra Johnson), his sons Larry (1993) and Lazekiel (2018). He is survived by his three daughters: Laresa Johnson, Ladebra (Carlos) Milton, and Lawonder (Martell) Jones; his sister, Myrna Knight and brother, Eric Reese; a host of family members and friends.
