Katie was born on February 27, 1994, in Atlanta, GA. In 2017 Katie graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications, Public Relations. She was a member of the Delta Psi Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority, and a Universal Cheerleading Association 2013 All-Girl National Champion. After college, Katie accepted a position as a Corporate HR Specialist for Southwire Company in Carrollton, GA where she was also a mentor for students in their 12 for Life Program.
To know Katie was a privilege. A true cheerleader at heart, Katie’s undeniable spark—detected first in her beautiful, enthusiastic smile—elevated spirits everywhere she went. She lived life passionately, dancing and singing, attending concerts and sporting events, and making laughter-filled memories with family, friends, and her beloved dog Piper.
Katie is preceded in death by grandparents Jimmie Stanton, Thomas Dunn, and Rita Dunn, and cousins Meghan Gaugh, Keegan Gaugh, and Matthew Dunn. She is survived by her parents, Brett and Denise Stanton, sisters Mary Claire and Sadie Stanton, grandmother Madelyn Stanton of Guntersville, AL, and her large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
