Joseph Alan Robertson, 65 born in Marietta, Georgia was preceded in death by his father Harold Robertson of Acworth, Georgia. Joseph, known lovingly by his family as Joey was a devoted husband, son, brother, and loving father who passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023. He was courageous and strong with a positive outlook on life until the end when he lost his life due to a culmination of health problems that he had been battling for several years.
Joey was a man of faith and a Christian in the eyes of the Lord. In 1968, at the age of ten, Joey was Baptized at Acworth 1st Baptist Church by one of his best friend’s father Reverand Charles Callahan. He lived his life for his family putting their needs, dreams, and ambitions always before his own. He tried to follow by the teachings of Jesus Christ and had a stern set of unwavering principles that ended on always doing things the right way by others and for himself according to his values instead of possibly just the simpler way.
Joey graduated in 1976 from North Cobb High School, where he enjoyed his years on the school’s basketball team and was voted “Best Dressed” by his Senior peers. He later furthered his studies at Southern Tech and Kennesaw State University.
He started his professional career at Boise Cascade Office Products in Atlanta, Georgia, and navigated many mergers, buyouts, and name changes as the company moved to United Stationers, Associated Stationers, and then finally Essendants. Throughout his 42-year career with the company, he wore many hats and company positions titles such as Operations Manager and General Operation Manager. These different titles spanned his career from Atlanta Georgia to New Orleans, Louisiana, and then finally in Houston Texas where he retired with the company.
In his personal life, he spent many years coaching youth sports such as baseball and basketball for his son. He had a real love for coaching and trying to touch the lives of others in any way he could in a positive light. Joey enjoyed reading and listening to music and there wasn’t a day that his family couldn’t remember him either right in the middle of a new book series on his Kindle or having his headphones on listening to some classic rock concert he found on YouTube. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with his family and friends throughout his life. Joey had taken an amateur interest in photography and really enjoyed capturing the local wildlife and nature whenever he found beauty in something. Probably his most favorite passion throughout his adult life though was to cook, grill, and smoke food for his friends and family as he had deemed himself the “Grill Master.” He enjoyed the way his delicious creations would bring smiles to those around him. He was the quintessential “Best guy” you knew that would always stop whatever he was doing to help you out or be the person you could count on no matter the situation.
Joey is survived by the love of his life of 40 years, Kelly Kay Robertson, his son Christopher Todd Robertson, Mother Faye Robertson, Sister Kim Robertson, Brother Mark Robertson, sister-in-law Amy Morse, Aunt Linda Early, Nephew Trey Early, Nieces Carson Haynie, and Savannah Tucker. As well as so many close relatives and friends that he loved dearly. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. preceded by his service at noon on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Logan Funeral Home at 357 N Dalton St. in Ellijay, Georgia. Burial services will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Kennesaw Memorial Park located at 1306 Whitlock Ave SW, in Marietta, GA the same day. The family asks that all floral and/or other arrangements please be sent to Logan Funeral Home for the service.
