Mrs. Janet Sue Battin, age 81, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on January 28, 2020 from complications she suffered from a stroke on October 2, 2019. Janet was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia to William Clay and Martha Evelyn Lockhart. Janet graduated in 1959 from Camden Clark Memorial with her diploma in Nursing. She was dedicated to the nursing profession and later in life went on to graduate from Trenton State College with a BS degree in Nursing followed by a MPH in Organization and Administration from UMDNJ Johnson Medical School. Janet had a deep Christian faith and was an active member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church participating in many activities and organizations for the past forty years.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents and her oldest daughter, Dr. Kimberly Runyon. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Dale Edward Battin, her daughter, Tamra Lynn (John) Gould; twin grandchildren, Harrison Russell Gould and Evelyn Ashleigh Gould; brother, Robert E. Lockhart; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will receive guests for visitation between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020 in the Chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel, in Marietta with the Rev. Glenn Ray officiating. Interment will be on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery South in Parkersburg, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation in Janet’s name to the Music Ministry of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church.
