Herbert Jennings Walker born January 14, 1930 in Rock Hill, South Carolina passed away peacefully in his daughter's home in Douglasville, Georgia Tuesday March 5th. He was the loving husband to Tarciana H. Walker for 51 years on March 7, 2019. He was also father to their eight children and 21 grand children. Herb grew up an only child and graduated from Erskine College with a major in history and a minor in theology. He joined the Navy and enjoyed an adventurous career travelling to many countries. He retired from the Navy in 1971 after 20 years. He later worked at the Railroad and loved his work as he loved trains and collecting and learning about them. He was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of the VFW.
The family will receive friends at 5:00 o’clock, Saturday, March 9th, 2019, at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, Georgia, 30060. Funeral Services for Mr. Walker, will be held at 2:00 o’clock, Sunday, March 10th, 2019, in the Chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Following the service, Committal will be on the funeral home grounds. In Honor of Mr. Walker’s service and retirement from the United States Navy, Honors will also be rendered during the Committal.
